Tottenham Hotspur lost to Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini’s comments.
Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Wembley Stadium in London on Wednesday evening.
The defeat at home saw Tottenham lose the tie 4-3 on aggregate and bow out of Europe’s premier club competition, and this despite taking the lead through South Korea international attacker Son Heung-min on Wednesday in the first half.
After the match, Juventus defender Chiellini, who has been on the books of the Italian giants since 2005 and earns £62,000 per week as salary according to The Independent, was critical of Tottenham’s mentality after the match.
The Times quotes the 33-year-old Italian central defender as saying: “It’s the history of Tottenham. They always created many chances and score so much, but at the end they miss always something to arrive [win] at the end.
“We believe in history. I think the game between Real [Madrid] and Paris [Saint-Germain] showed also that history, with experience, is important.”
Chiellini also added that despite having fantastic attacking players such as Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, Spurs concede chances.
