Tottenham Hotspur fans have criticised Erik Lamela’s display against Chelsea in the League Cup last night.
Lamela has been given an opportunity to stake his claim for a spot in Spurs’ starting line-up, with injuries mounting, but he had very little impact on the game yesterday.
Tottenham went out of the League Cup on penalties, after sinking to a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
And Spurs fans were not at all happy with Lamela’s efforts on the evening.
Lamela was selected to start up-front with Fernando Llorente for Tottenham, but he just could not hurt the Chelsea defence.
Despite playing for 90 minutes, the Argentine was not at his creative best as Tottenham lost out.
Lamela has now started in Spurs’ last two matches, but he has failed to show his worth in either fixture.
Tottenham are next in action against Crystal Palace, when it remains to be seen whether Lamela will be picked again.
