Tottenham Hotspur need to find a new striker this summer – but one player on their radar appears to be heading elsewhere.
A number of centre forwards have been linked with moves to Spurs, and a new name popped up on Monday in Darwin Nunez.
Football.London reported that Nunez is a name on Tottenham’s radar, having impressed at Almeria in Spain’s second tier last season.
The Sun added that Nunez was a name on Tottenham’s list, though the Daily Mail later added that Mourinho did consider moving for Nunez, but chose not to bid.
Nunez, 21, joined Almeria from Penarol last summer, and enjoyed a superb season in Spain with 16 goals in 30 appearances.
Already a Uruguayan international with one cap and one goal, Nunez looks set for a huge future – and he’s now a man in demand.

Record now report that Benfica have agreed a €24million (£21.5million) deal for Nunez, meaning Spurs have likely missed out barring a last-gasp U-turn.
Tottenham fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, with some believing that Nunez has the physicality that Jose Mourinho is looking for and could be the next Luis Suarez.
Whilst some fans aren’t convinced he’s good enough right now, the general consensus is that Nunez would be a smart investment – and those fans will surely be gutted if he ends up at Benfica instead.
