Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has not been at his best to date this season.
Rose has never been afraid to speak his mind in the media, and the Tottenham defender once again was very forthright in his latest interview.
The left-back has come in for criticism at Tottenham for his performances over the early part of the campaign.
But Rose has insisted that he doesn’t need to prove himself, as Mauricio Pochettino rates him.
“I don’t need to prove myself to anybody,” he said. “I have a manager at club level who knows me, you look at last season I played in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, I played semi-finals of the Champions League and I played in the final. So I’ve got a manager at Tottenham who believes in me.”
Tottenham supporters have not taken particularly kindly to Rose’s comments, as they feel he has spoken out of turn.
Rose has been guilty of making errors this term, and some Spurs fans have suggested that he has picked a bad time to be speaking out in the media.
Rose started England’s last match against Bulgaria and caught the eye, as Gareth Southgate’s men picked up a 4-0 lead.
At Spurs, though, Rose has been part of a defence which is still yet to keep a clean-sheet this term, and his performance will need to improve if Pochettino’s men are to achieve their aims this season.
