Tottenham Hotspur slipped to a Europa League defeat this evening, as they lost 1-0 away at Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
Spurs beat LASK 3-0 last week and were looking for a repeat performance, but it proved to be a difficult night for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Lior Refaelov scored the only goal of the game, with his first-half strike proving to be the winner as Spurs struggled to get going.
Despite having 15 shots, Tottenham managed to get just two of them on target, and couldn’t make 57% of possession count in a frustrating display.
Mourinho clearly wasn’t happy with what he saw in the first half, as he made four half-time substitutions in an effort to change the game – and it didn’t work.
Giovani Lo Celso, Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn and Carlos Vinicius were all hooked at the break, but Spurs don’t agree with one change there.
Supporters took to Twitter to suggest that Vinicius was actually Tottenham’s best player in the first half, and he didn’t deserve to be taken off.
Some called him ‘decent’ and felt he deserved longer on the pitch, branding Mourinho’s substitution ‘harsh’.
