Unai Emery has suggested that Arsenal will not be able to catch Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham are challenging for the Premier League title this season, while their bitter North London rivals Arsenal are aiming to finish in the top four.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are third in the league table at the moment with 57 points from 25 matches, eight points behind leaders Liverpool, who have played 26 games.
Spurs will be looking to close the gap on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Sunday afternoon when they take on Leicester City at Wembley Stadium in the Premier League.
As for Arsenal, the Gunners currently find themselves sixth in the standings with 50 points from 26 matches, a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
Emery, who was appointed the Arsenal manager in the summer of 2018 following the departure of Arsene Wenger, has suggested that his side will not be able to finish above Spurs in the league table this season.
“There are teams now better than us,” Emery told The Daily Mail. “They have an advantage (in points) to us. Chelsea and Manchester United, very big teams, they are closer than us.”
Emery added regarding catching Spurs: “It is so far. We are going to play Tottenham in one month but now we need to think first about the next games, the next teams.”
