Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 1-0 at home by Everton on Sunday in a hugely disappointing performance.
Jose Mourinho’s men were flat throughout the game, failing to really find any fluency in their attacking play or in their pressing.
Tottenham didn’t really lose the game due to a lack of a striker, but having another centre forward to throw on could have helped.
Rumours broke on Sunday linking Spurs with a new striker, with Alexander Sorloth now the new man being touted for a move to North London.
Trabzonsport president Ahmet Agaoglu told Fanatik that Tottenham are rivalling Leipzig for Sorloth’s signature, and talks with Spurs are imminent.
The situation is complex because Sorloth is midway through a two-year loan at Trabzonspor from Crystal Palace, meaning they would have to figure out an arrangement before the Norwegian could join Spurs.
Sorloth, 24, was a huge flop at Palace following his 2018 move from FC Midtjylland, scoring just one goal for the Eagles.
At Trabzonspor though, the giant target man smashed 33 goals in 49 games, becoming one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.
Spurs now seemingly want him, but Tottenham fans don’t seem impressed, branding Sorloth ‘Vincent Janssen 2.0’.
Others branded Spurs a ‘laughing stock’ and ‘a joke club’ for pursuing Sorloth, believing that he is nowhere near good enough to be playing for Tottenham.
