Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to Yves Bissouma.
The 21-year-old has made 11 appearances this season for Lille, who sit in a disappointing 18th place in Ligue 1.
Bissouma has 18 months left on his contract and is in his second season playing for the French club’s first team.
The midfielder is a prospect as opposed to a ready made star, but that fits Tottenham’s usual preference in the transfer market.
If bought to replace Dembele, Bissouma has a lot to live up to, but the Belgian may not be done just yet despite his injury problems this season.
One of the problems the board face in selling this transfer to Tottenham fans is that their recent signings from Ligue 1 have turned out to be flops.
Clinton N’Jie enjoyed no success and his replacement Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has not fared any better.
