Tottenham’s hopes of signing Wilfried Zaha appear over.
Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha
Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha after the attacker signed a new contract with the Eagles.
Palace made the announcement last night on their club website, bringing an early end to a transfer saga which had the potential to drag on through the summer.

The Sun had reported Tottenham were confident of signing Zaha, and the winger’s performances for Palace suggested he was very capable of stepping up to play for a Champions League level club.
Palace had been adamant all the way along that they had no intention of keeping Zaha, who was instrumental in them avoiding relegation.

Zaha’s decision is a major boost for the Eagles after manager Sam Allardyce handed in his shock resignation earlier this week.
It was expected that Allardyce’s exit could harm Palace’s chances of keeping Zaha, but instead the Ivory Coast winger’s commitment should play a part in attracting a high calibre new manager to the club.
For Tottenham the decision is concerning with regard to the strict wage structure the club operates, and hopefully just an early setback in a successful summer.
