Tottenham Hotspur announced their squad for this season’s Champions League on Monday and there were a couple of glaring omissions.

ESPN report Vincent Janssen was left out along with the forever injured Erik Lamela.

Janssen was linked with a move away from Spurs on deadline day with West Brom, Stoke and Brighton all discussed but no move came through.

The Dutch international’s move to Tottenham has developed into a nightmare despite the high hopes he arrived with after finishing 2015/16 as the Eredivisie top scorer for AZ Alkmaar.

Janssen has fallen down the Tottenham pecking order after Fernando Llorente’s deadline day arrival from Swansea.

Last season head coach Mauricio Pochettino indicated he would rather pick Heung-Min Son up front if required, meaning Janssen would effectively be fourth choice in the position.
