Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left encouraged by a report claiming they are actively trying to sell Moussa Sissoko.
The Daily Mail report Spurs are set to start offering Sissoko around as they try to raise funds for their own planned spending this summer.
Sissoko’s two years at Tottenham have been a failure, with the midfielder failing to establish himself as a regular starter in their XI.
He has predictably looked more like the inconsistent player who frustrated Newcastle fans during his time at the club, instead of the dynamic midfielder who fleetingly impressed for France at Euro 2016.
Sissoko’s disappointing spell at Tottenham was laid out last week as he failed to make France’s World Cup 2018 squad.
He did not feature in Tottenham’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United and played more times as a substitute in the Premier League (18) than as a starter this season (15).
If Sissoko wants to dig in, then he may feel that his World Cup absence could work in his favour at Spurs if he gets back to pre-season early.
But if Spurs have it their way, they may have sold him by then, if they are prepared to accept a hit on the £30 million they agreed to pay Newcastle United in 2016.
