The West Ham United defender says Spurs’ Edwards is the best he’s played with at his age.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are mocking rivals West Ham United after Hammers defender Reece Oxford labelled Marcus Edwards the best player he’s played with. Only that’s not quite what he said.
It would be some statement if he had, implying that having played with West Ham’s first team – including Dimitri Payet, who appeared in a European Championship final for France earlier this year – no Hammers player is as good as a 17-year-old kid who’s played just 15 minutes of senior football.

Oxford’s actual statement, as quoted by the London Evening Standard, reads: “I’ve said this before – Marcus Edwards. My age – he’s probably one of the best players I’ve played with.” My age.
Of course, this is still some compliment, given that West Ham’s youth academy is one of high repute – although these fans seem to have gotten a little bit carried away…
Sadly, those hoping to see Oxford playing in the white of Spurs are perhaps being slightly ambitious, with Oxford previously admitting to being an Arsenal supporter.
The highly-rated 17-year-old has played 16 times for the Hammers’ first team.
