Tottenham Hotspur tried to hijack Arsenal’s move for William Saliba but were unsuccessful.

Tottenham Hotspur fans already cannot believe what William Saliba has said upon his move to Arsenal.
Saliba agreed a move to Arsenal yesterday, despite Tottenham showing interest in the centre-back.
The Guardian reported that Tottenham tried to hijack Arsenal’s bid for the youngster, just before his move to the Emirates was about to go through.
Saliba ended up moving to the Gunners though, and he explained his decision yesterday.
“This is the biggest club in England for me, so it was an easy decision. I didn’t think twice about signing here, so I’m really happy,” AOL quotes the centre-back as saying.
“The history, the badge… since I was little, I’ve been watching Arsenal play in the Champions League and so on, and there are a lot of French players who have come through here. So that really helped me to make my mind up.”
The comments have left Tottenham fans laughing, as they feel that Saliba has made the wrong choice.
Saliba will not play for Arsenal this season, as he has been loaned back to St. Ettiene, but there are high hopes for his future with Unai Emery’s side.
Spurs, meanwhile, are on the hunt for other targets, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his squad.
