Tottenham Hotspur fans are concerned, after Mauricio Pochettino’s suggestion to the Guardian that he could play his side’s youngsters in next season’s FA Cup.

Spurs have been criticised after failing to get over the line once again, following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

And Pochettino has admitted that he is now considering playing a weakened line-up, to ensure that his side do not have to take on board such criticism next term.

He said: “Yes, I am thinking with Tottenham to play with kids the next time. I agree with you.

“It is my job to be criticised when we don’t win. The problem is the perception sometimes is not realistic. But maybe next we will provide the possibility to play with kids and I’m sure it will be fantastic for experience and everything. Then we stop to arrive in this situation.”

Tottenham supporters are worried about the comments, as they are so desperate to win a trophy.

Pochettino has always insisted that lifting the FA Cup is not a huge priority of his.

However, Spurs fans have not seen their side lift a major trophy for a decade, and are fed up with waiting.

Tottenham failed to show their best against United on Saturday, despite dominating for the early stages.

Spurs took a deserve lead through Dele Alli, but after they were pegged back they never got going again, and Ander Herrera eventually scored the winner for United.
