Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left baffled by Mauricio Pochettino’s comments about Moussa Sissoko to Yahoo.

Pochettino launched a fierce defence of Sissoko earlier today, with the French midfielder having to face a great deal of criticism from Spurs fans this season.

Sissoko has played more often than any other Tottenham player this term, but he is far from popular with Lilywhites fans.

Sissoko has been slated after a number of games this term, but Pochettino feels that Tottenham fans are treating the former Newcastle United man unfairly.

The Argentine boss said: “You have to give the credit to him because he’s the only player who gives or provides balance in the team in those transitions – offensive to defensive, defensive to offensive,” said the Spurs manager.

“There is no other player in the team who can provide that. This is the best quality he’s providing to the team. He has been one of the most important players.

“Sometimes we all create myths. Most of the time we are not clinical or honest in the way we assess things. Football is interested in many different things.

“Sometimes you think a way about someone because of first impressions, and then they stick forever. I like that you give credit to him because he is doing very well.”

Spurs fans have been left baffled by the comments, as they simply cannot see what Sissoko offers the team.

The 28-year-old has contributed just two goals and three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

And Spurs fans are convinced that Pochettino is putting far too much faith in Sissoko.

Sissoko could feature for Tottenham again tomorrow, when they take on Newport County in the FA Cup.
