The decisions Tottenham Hotspur make when the January transfer re-opens could be crucial to how the second half of their season pans out.
Tottenham fans on Twitter have provided a mixed reaction to reports regarding Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz and Isco, as well as Spurs’ Christian Eriksen.
Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that Madrid are willing to offer their attacking duo Mariano Diaz and Isco for Eriksen’s signature in January.
There are some sections of the Spurs faithful that have well and truly shut down those reports because they cannot see Real Madrid doing such a deal when the transfer window re-opens.
Eriksen’s contract is due to expire next summer, and in January Eriksen is allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with another European club.
But given Eriksen’s situation in North London, there are some fans who are hoping that this is true and they can pull off such a deal.
There’s no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino needs some bite and fight back into his squad. He got some of that when Spurs beat Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Perhaps to the surprise of no-one Eriksen didn’t start that match as he was an unused substitute by Pochettino, who will now be preparing for a tough trip to Anfield on Sunday.
