Kieran Trippier featured for Tottenham at left-wing-back against APOEL.

Kieran Trippier was selected in an unconventional left wing back role for Tottenham in their Champions League clash away to APOEL.
Usually a right-back, Trippier ceded his position to new signing Serge Aurier once again, and filled in for Ben Davies on the left.
Davies has been terrific this season stepping for the injured Danny Rose, and his absence was felt last night.
Trippier always puts in a committed display and defended well, but playing on the left simply does not come natural to him.

He is so one-footed that his need to take an extra touch often slowed Tottenham down going forward.
Trippier is at his best when on the right, able to whip in a cross with his preferred foot first time.
The defender did not disgrace himself but his performance did little other to suggest that playing him there was anything other than a temporary solution.
Fans were not impressed though, and called on Mauricio Pochettino to change formations or bring in an alternative from the bench.
Trippier was eventually switched to the right, and went on to provide an assist for Harry Kane’s third goal with a superb cross.
Here is a look at how Tottenham supporters reacted to his performance on the left…
