Tottenham Hotspur managed to beat Barnsley 1-0 in Carabao Cup action last night.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have generally been impressed by the display of Juan Foyth on debut.
Foyth was selected to start by Mauricio Pochettino, during Tottenham’s Carabao Cup match against Barnsley.
Although tougher tests will lie ahead for the young defender, Foyth came through his first appearance with his reputation enhanced.
Spurs won the match 1-0, and Foyth looked very comfortable throughout the fixture.
The 19-year-old was strong in possession, and also showed some excellent defensive skill – as he helped Tottenham keep a clean-sheet against their Championship opponents.
And Spurs fans have moved to praise Foyth on social media website Twitter after the contest.
Foyth looks likely to have a reserve role to play this season, with Spurs’ backline already very settled.
Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have a firm grip on the starting places in Pochettino’s line-up.
Tottenham are next in action when they take on West Ham United in the Premier League.
