Is there a chance for Tottenham to now sign Isco?

Isco of Spain celebrates after scoring his sides third goal during the International Friendly between Spain and Argentina at Wanda Metropolitano on March 27, 2018 in Madrid, Spain.

Tottenham Hotspur may finally have an opening to sign Spanish midfield ace Isco.

Mauricio Pochettino made an unsuccessful deadline day approach for the Real Madrid ace in 2016, Marca reported.

Isco this week scored a hat-trick for Spain against Argentina, before launching scathing criticism of his club boss Zinedine Zidane.

Isco was quoted by SkySports via Marca: “In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs. The matches with the national team give me life. Here, I have the confidence of the coach.

“I want to show that I’m a good player. Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me. Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino described Isco as ‘magical’ in the lead up to the Champions League games between the clubs earlier this season, demonstrating his clear admiration for the player. [AS].

Isco has started 18 of a possible 29 games for Real in La Liga this season, and started six of eight Champions League games.

But despite this fairly high usage rate, he has only completed 90 minutes once since November.

If Isco insists on leaving, there will be a queue of clubs across Europe, but Pochettino’s belief in him could sway the attacker to choosing North London.
