Hugo Lloris seems to have admitted that Tottenham Hotspur are not aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
Spurs finished third in the Premier League in 2015-16 and second last season, and are expected by many to challenge for the league title yet again this term.
The North London outfit, though, are fourth in the league table at the moment with 23 points from 12 matches.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are as many as 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.
The gap between City and Tottenham increased over the weekend, as they lost 2-0 to Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in the North London derby.
Spurs goalkeeper Lloris seems to have admitted that winning the Premier League title is no longer possible, and the club’s fans (mostly) agree, as shown in the following posts on social networking site Twitter.
Lloris has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2012 when he joined from Lyon for a transfer fee reported by The Independent to be worth £7.9 million.
“Before we think about City it’s important to stay in the top four,” Lloris told The Mirror. “This is the main target for our team.
“We heard from outside that Tottenham play for the title, blah, blah, blah. The most important thing is to stay consistent in the League.
“We have been in the top four the last two years and we need to carry on, to settle the club in this position and try to get more experience because the team is still young, then reduce the gap with the best.”
