Injured in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, it was speculated Harry Kane could miss the rest of the season.

While this could still be the case, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has refused to rule him out of the semi-finals.

Tottenham triumphed over Manchester City this week, edging a titanic battle on away goals.

Pochettino told BBC Sport: “We are not optimistic but you know Harry Kane and with Harry Kane all is possible.

“We are not going to say he is not going to play again or not. We will assess him day by day.”

Clearly it could go either way, but it says a lot that Kane has not been ruled out already.

He has made quick returns from ankle injuries before, and this time, it might really be worth risking his fitness for.

This is the Champions League semi-finals, it would be the biggest club game of Kane’s career.

Heung-Min Son is suspended for the first leg and if Kane was fit and available, Spurs will need him.

Tottenham of course have to balance risking Kane, bearing in mind they could make the final even without him, and would rather have him then, than bring him back too soon and end up with him missing the decider.

The semi-finals will matter to Kane so much that he might be willing to gamble either way.
