Tottenham Hotspur fans want their former hero to come home.
After Real Madrid’s El Clasico defeat at the Nou Camp, Gareth Bale cut a haunted figure.
The Welshman had a look of a player who knew he is in for a slating from the Madrid press, whether he deserves it or not.
Bale has been under fire recently, and despite him ending a nine game goal drought last weekend, the winger was not able to influence the game in the 2-1 loss to Barcelona.
He completed a woeful 57 per cent of his passes, and did not land a single shot on target. He did manage to create two chances, but Madrid could not convert any of them.
More unusually, he did not complete a single dribble, but a lack of possession could be one reason. He received just 24 passes from his Madrid teammates, while top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo received more than 40.
Bale now has a break from Madrid for international duty, and a spell away from the spotlight could do him good.
A permanent exit has previously been suggested, with The Mail touting him for a switch to Manchester United.
It is fans of his former club Tottenham Hotspur who really crave a return, whether it be realistic at this point or otherwise, dreaming to see him link up with current star Harry Kane.
