Fernando Llorente failed to make the most of his first start in a Tottenham shirt in the win over Barnsley.
The Spanish striker led the line in the EFL Cup clash against the Championship side as Mauricio Pochettino rested Harry Kane.
After Vincent Janssen’s terrible start for Spurs last year, they had hoped Llorente might hit the ground running.
Instead the former Swansea City striker seemed off the pace and did not seize his opportunity to impress.
He missed one clear cut header in the first half and did not really look like threatening afterwards.
It was up to midfielder Dele Alli to step up and score a winner from close range
