Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has insisted he wants to stay at the club next season.

Llorente, who currently has no offers to move so far, told Mundo Deportivo he wants to stay at Spurs in any case.

Llorente signed for Tottenham on deadline day last year from Swansea City and looked off the pace early on.

He could benefit from a full pre-season and prove his worth, but he will need to get off to a quick start after a dismal campaign in 2017/18.

Llorente scored only one goal in 16 Premier League appearances, and did not look an upgrade on Vincent Janssen who flopped the year before.

He said: “I do not have offers from any club in Spain nor from anywhere else and I will continue at Tottenham, where I have one more year on my contract. I am very happy at Tottenham.

“I am very happy in the Premier League, it is a spectacular league, with an impressive atmosphere and I am very happy to be living this experience.”

Llorente also has the chance to play in the Champions League for Spurs, and at 33, this could be his final chance to do so.

Despite his insistence to stay put, if Spurs can find another back-up for Harry Kane then it would make sense to try and move him on, and one option could be to promote prolific youngster Reo Griffiths.
