Erik Lamela is expected to miss Tottenham’s fixture this weekend.
Two years ago Erik Lamela had a storming first game of the season for Tottenham as he scored in their opener against Everton.
Last year he was on the sidelines as he continued his rehabilitation from a lengthy injury lay-off, and for this year’s first game of the season he also faces missing out.
Tottenham’s official Twitter account relayed the news that he is suffering from a muscle injury.
Spurs claim Lamela will be back ‘soon’, although this has not inspired much confidence from supporters.
Lamela’s troublesome hip injury started off as a minor problem and snowballed into an issue which cost him a year of action.
After featuring in pre-season, a setback was the last thing the Argentine needed.
He is not expected to feature for the club against Newcastle this weekend.
Spurs did not sign any players in the transfer window and their squad is a little stretched with players only just returning from World Cup involvement.
