It is five years since Tottenham signed Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is the one who got away for Tottenham Hotspur, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino telling BBC Sport last year the club were too quick to sell him.
The Icelandic international has thrived since joining Swansea City, and The Mail reported two months ago that Tottenham could consider bringing him back to the club.
Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson
Today is five years to the day since Tottenham signed Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim, a date which was not lost on the club, as they celebrated it by posting a Tweet with a video showing some of his best moments for the club.
This prompted responses from supporters urging the club to bring him back. Sigurdsson scored 10 goals fro Swansea last season and scored 13 assists to help them stave off relegation.
Getting Sigurdsson back won’t be easy, with Swansea digging in and asking for a high price.
It is tough to see Tottenham getting into a bidding war for a player they once sold, but if there is a way for them to get him back at a cheaper price, then it is a no brainer to try and get a deal over the line.
