It was an unhappy return to White Hart Lane for winger Andros Townsend as the former Tottenham Hotspur man saw his Crystal Palace side slip to a 1-0 defeat.
To compound Townsend’s disappointment, he was embarrassed by one of the players who replaced him, Erik Lamela, who left him dazed with a skilful nutmeg.
Lamela embarrassing the Palace winger was about as memorable as it got for Townsend, who will have been hoping to prove a point to Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who exiled him to the under-21s last season before selling him to a doomed Newcastle United side.

Townsend made a quick return to the Premier League this season by signing for Palace, but his current club sit at the foot of the table, with no wins and no goals from their opening two games.
