Less than a fortnight after beating Tottenham, West Ham have fired Slaven Bilic.

Slaven Bilic was fired by West Ham this morning, less than two weeks after his team shocked rivals Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

Both teams had rested players for the fixture, which Bilic was warned by the board not to lose or it could cost him his job.

West Ham came back to win the game 3-2 after trailing 2-0, knocking rivals Spurs out of the cup.

Now Tottenham have had the last laugh, with Bilic fired just two games later.

West Ham could not build on the momentum created with the 3-2 Wembley win, drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace before being beaten 4-1 at home to Liverpool.

The Hammers sit slumped in 18th place and the board feared a relegation battle was inevitable unless they acted.

Tottenham supporters were disheartened to see West Ham beat them a fortnight ago but are in better spirits seeing Bilic dismissed so soon afterwards.

Bilic was brought in to try and close the gap between the two clubs, but with Spurs moving forwards and West Ham regressing, the opposite has been achieved.
