Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on signing game-changing attacker Keita Balde, with AS Monaco clinching a deal.
Keita scored 16 goals last season for Lazio but fell out with his club after trying to push through a move to Juventus.
The 22-year-old proved last season what a devastating player he can be, netting eight goals in his final six matches of the season.
Capable of playing up front and on the wing, he could have been ideal for Spurs as he could play in support of Harry Kane as well as deputising for him.
Spurs have not signed an attacking player all summer and Keita had seemed like a credible option.
Now with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching they are running out of options and need to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
