Tottenham Hotspur fans are reacting on Twitter after Ryan Mason’s return to the club was confirmed on Tuesday.

Mason – who was forced to retire from playing earlier this year, following a head injury suffered while representing Hull City – is back at the club at which he began his career, coaching on a voluntary basis.

Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, the 26-year-old admitted: “It’s good to be back home.

“I‘ve always stayed in contact with people here. I was at the club for 18 years and even though I left to go to Hull, the club never left me.

“It’s always been my club, I was always keen to come back and when that opportunity arose it wasn’t a case of thinking that I needed time, I was keen to get back in and get started as soon as possible.”

And many Spurs fans are just as delighted to have Mason back with them. Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter…

Mason made 70 appearances for the club he grew up supporting, before leaving for Hull in August 2016 – just months before his accident happened.

The former England international is not the only one-time Tottenham midfielder to become part of the north Londoners’ backroom team within the past year, after Scott Parker’s arrival as academy coach.
