Did Tottenham Hotspur need another striker after all?

Year after year, when the transfer window closes, Tottenham Hotspur fans are left wondering if the club should have bought a striker.

Their lack of back up for Harry Kane was emphasised last night as they were held 0-0 away to bottom of the table Sunderland.

Harry Kane was well shackled by Sunderland’s much maligned defence, while Vincent Janssen was only thrown on with five minutes to go.

Janssen has not scored a single goal from open play since signing for the club last summer, and last night he was a combination of a last resort and only option for Mauricio Pochettino to call on.

Spurs loaned out promising youngster Shayon Harrison earlier this month, and are really up against it if Kane gets injured, unless Janssen can suddenly reverse his own fortunes.

Supporters took to Twitter to bemoan their situation and question whether chairman Daniel Levy has got it wrong…
