Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has been badly out of form so far this season.
Tottenham have struggled over the early months of the season, with Eriksen one of their biggest under-performers.
The attacking midfielder has not looked at his best for the entirety of 2019, and he has rapidly lost popularity among supporters of the North London side.
Eriksen has under a year left on his contract at Spurs and suggested that he would be open to leaving in the summer.
There have now been questions asked of Eriksen’s commitment, but the Danish international insists that the speculation is not the reason for the side’s poor form.
“It doesn’t matter at all. Everyone is professional and in all clubs there is talk of players who have to go away. That side of the matter has no bearing on how we have performed so far this season.”
Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are all in the final season of their contracts at Tottenham, and all three have faced criticism for their performances this season.
And Eriksen’s latest comments seem to have been ill judged, as they have not helped to improve his popularity.
When Eriksen does return to Tottenham after the international break, Pochettino’s side’s next match will come against Watford in two weekends’ time.
