Harry Redknapp has today been linked again with the England job, the last thing Tottenham need when they need to be focusing on the weekend. One fans says he would just get rid now…
Yesterday on HITC Sport we ran an article entitled ‘Tottenham causing Daniel Levy’s impossible juggling job’ analysing the various challenges for the Spurs chairman at present.
The club’s form and uncertainty of Champions League football is making it impossible to plan for next season, particularly with question marks over who will be managing.
To stop the Redknapp charade dragging on and on, and potentially all summer if an interim coach is appointed for Euro 2012, and the Spurs boss considered thereafter, one Spurs fan who responded to the article has a simple solution- Here is his – unedited- post:
‘Unhappy supporter’ said: “the quesion to Mr Levy is do u want to win things like us the fans or are u just like harry, in it for what he can get (all about the money). have u all forgot what happen last year and how we finished, i’m not sure if it’s me but it feel the same, players tired and players not being played and we don’t buy what we need. if u can’t see what he is doing to spurs, his practising his formations and tactics for England on us. sack him NOW not at the end of the season and we finish 6th. i would like to no Mr Levy, are we in it to win it or are we just the supporting act. just wannbes( just a joke)”
While unlikely to happen, it is certainly a scenario to ponder. If Levy got tough and took decisive action to send Redknapp packing, would it have a negative or positive effect on the club?
On one hand it could be a huge kick in the backside to the current squad, and show them they are playing for their futures and that their current malaise is not acceptable, and more importantly allow them to start planning for the future.
On the other hand it would be very unsettling for the club, a big distraction at a crucial stage of the season with five games to go to consolidate fourth spot. It may also have a negative effect on their star players, causing them to become disenchanted with the club’s direction and panicky approach, causing them to want out in the summer.
As we’ve said we doubt Levy would make such a bold move, but who knows, could it even be the right one? Or is the right one at the wrong time?
