Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and the striker thinks Premier League fans will be surprised by his Bayern Munich form.

Spurs brought in a new striker over the summer as Richarlison arrived in a big-money move from Everton.

Richarlison has offered great support to Harry Kane but his ability to play out wide means Tottenham could still go for a centre forward.

This is likely to be a cheap signing, possibly a Fabio Paratici free transfer special, and one surprise name has already been linked.

Tottenham are eyeing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

90Min reported earlier this month that Tottenham are looking in to signing Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Tottenham may now look to sign him on a free transfer.

The last few years have, with all due respect, been slightly bonkers when it comes to Choupo-Moting.

The former Schalke and Hamburg star joined Stoke City in 2017 but he scored just five goals as the Potters were relegated.

Despite penning a three-year deal with the Potters, Choupo-Moting left on a free transfer in 2018 and made a bizarre move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Stoke fans had seen little to suggest that Choupo-Moting should even be a Premier League player never mind join one of Europe’s elite.

Choupo-Moting was just experienced competition for PSG and scored nine goals in 51 appearances for the French side.

Just when you thought Choupo-Moting’s time at the top was over, he secured another big move by joining Bayern Munich in 2020.

18 goals in his first two seasons was a strong return but Choupo-Moting has been on fire this term, racking up 11 goals in 16 games.

Now in the form of his life, Choupo-Moting heads into the World Cup with a chance to attract new suitors.

Tottenham may well be looking on with interest and he has now commented on the perception from English fans.

Choupo-Moting has told The Sunday Mirror (20/11, p73) that he actually doesn’t think he was all that bad at Stoke.

The veteran striker added that many in English will now be surprised by his exploits in recent times, and there may well be a desire to come back to England and prove himself again.

“I didn’t think I did that badly at Stoke,” said Choupo-Moting. “It was hard because the team didn’t play well and we were relegated. I imagine quite a lot of people in England will have been surprised at what I have achieved since leaving,” he added.
