Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has praised Davinson Sanchez for his performance against Everton, as quoted on the North London club’s official website.

Sanchez featured for Tottenham in their comfortable 3-0 victory over Everton away from home at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The 21-year-old Colombia international central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Vertonghen, 30, also started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, and the Belgium international centre-back has spoken highly of the performance of the summer signing from Ajax.

Tottenham attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, 25, was also impressed with the shift put in by Sanchez.

“He did very well,” Vertonghen told Tottenham’s official website about Davinson’s display. “It was a hard game for him to come into at Everton but playing three at the back helped him.

“It’s good to be a bit protected especially in the first game and he played alongside myself and Toby and to be fair, he did very well.

“You could see his qualities. He’s strong, quick, strong in the air, confident – he’s a great addition to the squad.”

“He played very strongly, was very confident, everything was under control,” Eriksen told Tottenham’s official website about Davinson’s display.

“His passing of course (having arrived) from Ajax is very good, calm. One-against-one he’s strong defensively, he’s quick and he’s a player who will only get better in time.”

Meanwhile, former Manchester United and Celtic striker Dion Dublin was impressed with the performance of Kane against Everton.

The England international striker scored for Tottenham at Goodison Park, first in the 28th minute and then on 46 minutes.

“Kane is on fire,” Dublin told BBC Sport during the match (16:18). “He is looking sharp today. He doesn’t have anyone to fight through to be honest. No defence at all.”

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with seven points from four matches, just three points behind leaders Manchester United.
