Tottenham could finally sign Djed Spence as talks with Middlesbrough are seeming moving forward ahead of the weekend.

Tottenham are continuing their busy start to the summer transfer window having already signed Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma.

Everton striker Richarlison and Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet look set to follow, with right wing back the only glaring need left.

Tottenham’s top target in that role has been Djed Spence and it looks like Spurs are moving closer and closer to signing him.

Spence being a key target for Tottenham has been rumoured for weeks and even months now.

The Middlesbrough wing back spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League.

Tottenham need homegrown talents for quota reasons and Spence fits the bill especially given Antonio Conte’s need for another wing back.

Emerson Royal wasn’t cut out for that role and Matt Doherty would need competition.

Spence is quick, dynamic and capable of playing as a wing back or as a right back in a four.

Spence has been Tottenham’s main target there but striking a deal with Middlesbrough has been difficult.

Sky Sports now claim that Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Spence and a deal worth £15million plus add-ons is close.

It’s even suggested that an agreement over a transfer could be reached before the weekend.

That suggests that Tottenham are far down the line with Middlesbrough and a breakthrough is finally imminent.

Landing Richarlison, Lenglet and Spence before Tottenham’s pre-season training starts on Monday would be absolutely huge for Conte.

That mixture of signings boosts Tottenham’s first XI or their depth, giving Conte major competition for places with the Champions League on the horizon.

Add in that Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has named Spence as his toughest opponent and this just looks to be perfect for Tottenham as three signings now appear to be close.
