Tottenham Hotspur have high hopes for Destiny Udogie and UEFA have picked him out as a top talent for the coming year.

Tottenham may have pulled off something of a masterstroke with their move for Udogie.

Spurs signed a short-term fix at left wing back as Ivan Perisic arrived to reunite with his former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte.

Yet Tottenham also looked to the future though and took a very long-term approach by signing Udogie.

Tottenham agreed to pay £15million rising to £18million to sign Udogie before loaning him straight back to Udinese.

The thought process was that, if Tottenham wait until next summer to land Udogie, they may risk missing out to another club.

Tottenham decided to get in quickly and secure Udogie now, though he will only make his Spurs debut next season.

Tottenham talent Destiny Udogie backed for success by UEFA

Udogie has been showing off his potential with Udinese this season.

Two goals and one assist in 11 Serie A games this season has showed Udogie’s attacking ability as a wing back.

That’s what Antonio Conte will hope to see at Tottenham… well, if he’s still Spurs boss when Udogie actually arrives.

Tottenham fans are excited about the 20-year-old and it seems that the buzz extends far beyond North London.

UEFA have profiled a whole host of youngsters who they think are in line for major success in 2023.

One of them is Udogie, praising the Italian for his ability to make a difference in defence and attack.

UEFA note that Tottenham were able to ‘get a jump on the competition’ to sign Udogie and secure his future as a Tottenham player.

Whilst it’s important not to place too much hype on a youngster like Udogie, it’s hard not to feel very excited about his Premier League future.
