Tottenham will welcome Destiny Udogie to North London in 2023 and he has outlined his intent to be like Theo Hernandez or Alphonso Davies.

Spurs have already completed the signing of Udogie with Fabio Paratici taking a long-term view of the transfer market.

Tottenham seemingly felt that Udogie would be snapped up by somebody else if they waited until the summer of 2023.

Instead, Tottenham decided to strike a deal worth around £18million including add-ons before owning Udogie straight back to Udinese for the season.

That’s pretty smart stuff, securing Udogie before anybody else joins the race and allowing him to have the continuity of playing with Udinese.

The 20-year-old has bagged two goals and one assist in 11 Serie A games this season and looks set to be Tottenham’s first-choice left wing back of the future.

Udogie is seemingly perfect for Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system and he has some very impressive idols.

Tottenham-bound Udogie admires Davies, Hernandez and Marcelo

Udogie has told Gazzetta dello Sport that he has three idols when it comes to playing as left back or left wing back.

Udogie noted that he ‘fell in love’ with the style Marcelo provided at Real Madrid, inspiring him to become a left back.

The youngster then added that he really likes AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, seemingly hoping to be just like them.

“I used to be a Milan fan, but when I started playing on the left I fell in love with Marcelo. I like Theo Hernandez, same as Alphonso Davies,” he added.

Tottenham will ultimately be hoping for exactly the same thing.

Ivan Perisic is still a quality wing back but at almost 34, he is hardly going to be the long-term solution for Tottenham in that position.

Ryan Sessegnon is still showing glimpses of his quality but may not be considered at the level for Tottenham’s long-term plans in that position.

Tottenham will hope to see Udogie become the next Hernandez or Davies, becoming an incredible attacking threat for many years to come.
