Owen Hargreaves has hailed Dejan Kulusevski and even made a comparison towards Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne due to his composure.

Tottenham travelled to Germany on Tuesday night as they took on Eintracht Frankfurt in their latest Champions League game.

Having collapsed with a 2-0 defeat to Sporting in their last Champions League outing, Tottenham needed a response here.

Spurs weren’t quite able to do that though, drawing 0-0 with a lacklustre attacking performance against the Bundesliga side.

Tottenham just lacked any sort of composure or final ball in the attacking third.

This was the case against Arsenal too with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Richarlison often looking to frantic at key moments.

There feels like a lack of cohesion at times when those three play and it feels clear that Tottenham are missing Dejan Kulusevski.

The Swedish winger just knits it all together in the final third, possessing a calmness and unselfishness in the final third that is needed alongside goalscorers like Son and Kane.

Kulusevski is out with a hamstring injury at the moment and had been in and out of the team due to Richarlison’s impact.

Yet these frantic attacking displays without him just show Kulusevski’s importance and how much Antonio Conte needs him back quickly.

Kulusevski was once likened to Kevin De Bruyne and Owen Hargreaves has now backed up that comparison.

Speaking on BT Sport (04/10, 10:06pm), Hargreaves suggested that Kulusevski is like De Bruyne in the way that he can just take a little bit more time to make his decisions in the final third.

Hargreaves praised Kulusevski for always being in control and not rushing, believing that he is the key to unlocking Tottenham’s attack – but it’s unclear just when he will be able to return.

“Kulusevski is the one, a bit like Kevin De Bruyne,” said Hargreaves. “When you watch the guys that create, they just take a tiny bit more time, they just don’t rush. When I watch Kulusevski, he’s always in control, he’s not rushing, it’s not hectic,” he added.
