Tottenham Hotspur’s Kieran Trippier struggled on Saturday.

Alejandro Moreno has told ESPN that Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier was “taken to school” by the menacing Leroy Sane all evening on Saturday against Man City.

The high-flying Citizens offered another glimpse of their glowing title credentials by thumping Tottenham 4-1 at the Etihad this past weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who also missed a second-half penalty through Gabriel Jesus, were four goals ahead by stoppage time, before Christian Eriksen slammed home a late consolation.

Trippier endured a nightmare against the German winger, who skinned the Spurs defender with his first touch in an incident which pretty much set the tone for his evening.

Kevin De Bruyne was many people’s Man of the Match, but Moreno has also highlighted Sane – who bagged two assists – and claimed that he gave the former Burnley man a footballing lesson.

The 38-year-old, who enjoyed a 10-year MLS career and won 41 caps for Venezuela, told ESPN: “It’s easy to point to Kevin de Bruyne, but Leroy Sane was taking Kieran Trippier to school every single time he got the ball.

“When all those things are happening across the board, it makes Manchester City unstoppable.”

The Sky Blues are 21 points ahead of Tottenham, who sit seventh in the Premier League table and three points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool.

It isn’t the first time that Trippier has struggled this season and if Mauricio Pochettino continues to play him ahead of Serge Aurier, it won’t be the last.
