Toby Alderweireld has been one of a number of Tottenham Hotspur players who has come under criticism from supporters this season.

Toby Alderweireld has stated in a brutally honest manner that it is a ‘nice change of scenery’ for him to leave Tottenham for national duty following a number of poor performances and results at club level.
Senior centre-back Alderweireld has been a regular for Spurs this season and has witnessed his team suffer defeats to Newcastle, Bayern Munich and Brighton.
Now, Alderweireld, along with club teammate Jan Vertonghen are on international duty with Belgium, who will take on San Marino and Kazakhstan in these coming days.
Nonetheless, after suffering a number of difficult moments at club level this season, Alderweireld was honest in what has happened in these first few months.
“A career is made of ups and downs,” Alderweireld told Les Sports. “A few months ago, we were playing in the Champions League finals. It’s proof that everything can change very quickly, whether it’s good or bad.
“You have to accept the current situation and not panic. All we need to do is win a few games to get back on track, but I’m not hiding that being with the national team is a nice change of scenery”.

If someone like Alderweireld can produce his best form then it does bode well for Tottenham, and Pochettino will be hoping for the best Alderweireld when he returns from the international break.
Playing for Belgium, getting some wins and confidence under his belt might be what he needs and other Tottenham players need during these next 10 or so days.
When the international fixtures are over, Spurs will take on bottom-of-the-table Watford on home soil before playing Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
