Tottenham’s Kyle Walker
Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker may have put his manager’s nose out of joint with his comments about the club’s training sessions earlier this week.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is renowned for the intensity of his gruelling training sessions, but Walker in an interview offered a hint his boss was easing up.
Speaking to The Mirror he said: “He’s cut down on some of the training sessions. We don’t train every day now and he does not demand as much as he used to.”
Perhaps after experiencing a few extra laps of the training pitch as a result on Wednesday, Walker sent a tweet clarifying his comments, insisting he is pushing as hard as ever.
Tottenham fans were amused by his comments, praising him for a quick recovery.
Tottenham have faded in past years late in the season, form which has been attributed to intense training earlier in the season, and Walker’s original comments were alluding to the fact Pochettino is attempting to manage his squad better to mitigate this.
