Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has told the club’s official website that he and Danny Rose push each other.

Davies has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Premier League rivals Swansea City.

The 23-year-old is not the first-choice left-back at Spurs, with England international Danny Rose clearly having established himself in the starting lineup.

The 26-year-old is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and it is hard to see Davies playing regularly when the Englishman is fit.

The Wales international defender, though, has admitted that he always knew that it was going to be tough for him to play week-in and week-out. Davies has also stated that he and Rose push each other.

“When you join a big club it’s never going to be easy and no position on the field is just going to have one player,” Davies told Tottenham’s official website regarding competition with Rose.

“That’s the way football is going now, every team has big squads and when you get an opportunity, you have to be ready to come in and show what you can do.

“I think I’ve improved as a player, I think Danny has as well and we just keep pushing each other every day.”
