Danny Rose has criticised Tottenham Hotspur’s recruitment whilst suggesting that Daniel Levy’s response has been ‘bizarre’.

Tottenham are out of the Champions League after Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with AC Milan.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Tottenham needed to pull off a big comeback just as Chelsea did against Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs were disappointing yet again though and couldn’t find the net, meaning the Serie A champions go through to the last eight.

The inquest has begun as Tottenham fans and pundits seek answers on just why Spurs have fallen flat.

This may well end with Antonio Conte leaving Tottenham and reports of Mauricio Pochettino’s return have been accelerating.

Danny Rose slams Tottenham recruitment

Former Tottenham left back Danny Rose was in the Sky Sports studio on Wednesday night, offering punditry on the Spurs defeat.

Rose ended his time at Tottenham before Conte arrived at the club but still has Spurs close to his heart.

Rose noted that everybody at Tottenham must be held accountable for this Champions League exit – not just Conte.

The former England ace added that Daniel Levy is unhappy with Tottenham’s signings in recent times, with Rose feels is ‘bizarre’.

Rose was calling back to his controversial comments back in 2017 as he called on Tottenham to stop signing players he has to Google.

The 32-year-old finds it funny that he was fined two weeks wages for questioning the club’s transfer policy yet Levy is now in agreement.

“I think everybody has got to be held accountable,” said Rose. “I heard recently Daniel Levy said something about the signings haven’t been great. It’s bizarre that, because I’m sure I said something like that six years ago and got fined two weeks wages, but here we are,” he added.

Some of Fabio Paratici’s signings – like Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski – have been pretty good.

Yet if you go further back, money was wasted on the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Davinson Sanchez, Sergio Reguilon and Steven Bergwijn.

Some of those aren’t terrible players but just haven’t provided a return on investment for Tottenham.

Spurs must bring in quality additions this summer no matter who the manager is – though whether Rose will have to Google them remains to be seen.
