Daniel Levy intends to stay at Tottenham Hotspur even if the club do end up being taken over by new ownership in the near future.
That’s according to the Daily Mail (16/02, back page), who have been digging into Jahm Najafi’s rumoured takeover bid for Tottenham.
Amid all the rumours about Qatari investment, it’s actually Iranian-American businessman Najafi who has the strongest takeover rumours around him right now.
It’s suggested that Najafi would launch a £3.1billion offer to buy Tottenham but owner Joe Lewis is seeking up to £4.5billion for Tottenham.
That’s a major gap in valuation and it’s unlikely that Najafi will get any closer to the rumoured asking price of the North London club.
One interesting note is that it’s stated that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to stay at Tottenham even if the club’s ownership changes.
ENIC purchased Tottenham in 2001 and Levy has been Tottenham chairman ever since, meaning he is slowly approaching 25 years in the job.
Even if ENIC sell up, Levy would seemingly like to keep his role and continue to try and move Tottenham forward.

Daniel Levy staying would be divisive but Tottenham takeover seems unlikely
It’s fair to say that Levy staying at Tottenham in a post-ENIC world would bring some mixed opinions.
Some appreciate that Levy doesn’t go wild with the cash at Tottenham, preferring to keep a modest wage bill compared to the rest of the ‘big six’.
Others think that Levy needs to release some funds if Tottenham are to really push for the top four every year and win some silverware down the line.
That mixed opinion means Levy staying on would caused some real division – but we can’t see it coming to that.
Najafi is well short of the required asking price for Tottenham and a deal for Spurs is described as ‘impossible’ right now.
Maybe this is one to revisit down the line, but for now, Levy isn’t going anywhere.
