Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Daichi Kamada and a battle with Barcelona looks set to intensify in the coming months.

That’s according to a report from Sponichi over in Kamada’s native Japan.

They claim that European sources are indicating that Barcelona and Tottenham are already moving to sign Kamada.

The Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave Germany.

That means Kamada is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club right now – which may be why Barcelona and Tottenham are so keen.

It’s expected that this battle for Kamada is now likely to heat up in the coming weeks and months with a big decision facing that attacking midfielder.

Tottenham need a player like Daichi Kamada

Fabio Paratici – who loves a free transfer, let’s not forget – got a couple of positive deals done in January.

A quality attacking right wing back arrived in Pedro Porro whilst Arnaut Danjuma has arrived to give another option on the left wing.

Tottenham do still need to do work in the summer; a left-sided centre back is paramount, as is another goalkeeper.

Tottenham also lack a real playmaker, even if it’s just somebody who can come off the bench and provide some additional guile in the final third.

Kamada fits the bill having racked up 12 goals and five assists in just 26 games for Frankfurt this season.

The 26-year-old has proven himself to be a real difference maker in the final third and has almost exclusively played as an attacking midfielder for the Bundesliga side.

Hailed as a ‘top, top player’ by Joe Cole after giving West Ham ‘absolute nightmares’ in the Europa League last season, Kamada is ready for the next step.

A move to Tottenham would surely appeal to Kamada and whilst Barcelona won’t be easy to fend off, Kamada’s profile as a dangerous number 10 is just what Spurs are seeking to change games in their favour.
