Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Cristian Romero is desperate to join Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Tottenham and Atalanta were in contact again yesterday over the transfer of the 23-year-old Argentina international central defender.
However, Spurs and Atalanta cannot reach an agreement.
The SkySport and The Guardian journalist has claimed that the Romero, who won the Copa America with Argentina this summer, is doing everything he can to join Spurs and is “forcing”.
Romano had earlier claimed how much Atalanta are looking for Romero, and how much Spurs are willing to pay for the Juventus-owed defender.
For a transfer to Tottenham to happen, Atalanta will have to make Romero’s loan deal from Juventus permanent and then sell him to Spurs.

Could a Tottenham Hotspur transfer happen?
It seems that Romero is desperate to join Spurs.
Tottenham and Atalanta have to agree on a fee, and perhaps they will come to an understanding soon.
There is still time for the two clubs to hammer out a deal.
There is no point in Atalanta in keeping a player who wants to leave.
Toby Alderweireld has left Tottenham, and head coach Nuno needs a replacement.
