However, Tottenham Hotspur are not willing to pay the same amount in wages that West Ham United are for the Mexican forward.

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring West Ham United’s move for Javier Hernandez, according to the Daily Mirror, but completing a transfer could be very difficult.

Spurs are said to be considering hijacking West Ham’s move for Hernandez, which appears set to go through in the near future.

The Mirror claim that West Ham are confident of snapping up the forward from Bayer Leverkusen, but Spurs could yet scupper their plans.

However, if Tottenham are to sign Hernandez, they will have to hope that money is not his main motivator.

Tottenham may be able to offer Hernandez Champions League football, but they surely won’t be able to match West Ham’s contract offer.

The Mexican forward stands to earn £145,000-a-week if he moves to West Ham, according to the Daily Express, which is far more than Spurs pay any of their players.

Tottenham have a strict wage policy in place, which means that no player is offered more than £100,000-a-week and that could prove restrictive in the race for Hernandez.

Of course, if Hernandez wants to challenge for the Premier League then Spurs can feel they are better placed than West Ham to attract the former Manchester United man.

However, money talks, and Slaven Bilic will be hoping that he can get a deal over the line for Hernandez without any complications.
