Tottenham Hotspur could frustrate Everton by signing Alex Telles from Porto

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in the Porto left-back, who Everton were linked with in January.

Everton have been linked in the Daily Mail with Porto left-back Alex Telles since January, but they could regret not moving for the Brazilian now.

Sam Allardyce first identified Telles as a potential option for the Toffees, but they didn’t get a deal over the line.

Tottenham Hotspur are now said to be interested in snapping up Telles by Sky Sports, which makes Everton’s task of signing him even more difficult.

The Toffees need to bring in a new left-back this summer, as they have struggled in the position throughout the campaign.

The ageing Leighton Baines can no longer be relied upon to stay fit, and Cuco Martina has not proven to be adequate back-up.

Whoever Everton appoint will surely make strengthening their defence one of his top priorities, and Telles could have been a great addition.

The 25-year-old has proven to be a major attacking threat in the Portuguese league over the past campaign, where he has claimed 14 assists.

And if Tottenham do manage to snap him up, ahead of Everton, then the Toffees may regret not making a move far sooner, when they had the chance to sign him unopposed.
