Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino worked with Luke Shaw at Southampton, and it does not come as a surprise that the North London club have been linked with the Manchester United defender.

The Express claimed in December that Tottenham manager Pochettino was planning to make a move for the 22-year-old left-back in the January transfer window.

The Guardian claimed of an enquiry from Spurs for the England international, although it does not seem likely that any move is going to happen in the January transfer window.

Could a transfer occur in the summer of 2018? Maybe, maybe not. Tottenham, though, could face competition from bitter North London rivals Arsenal for Shaw, if indeed they decide to make a move.

That’s because Arsenal already have an eye on Shaw, according to The Sun. The British tabloid has claimed that during recent talks over the move of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United, the Gunners asked for the former Southampton star.

It has also been reported that the Gunners will be back for the left-back in the summer of 2018, meaning that Spurs could face competition for Shaw from Arsene Wenger’s side.

Shaw has been on the books of United since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Southampton for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £27 million.
